Howard Day's video: Niimiipuu and Arges Introduction 2 of 4 WIP 2 4K
@Niimiipuu and Arges Introduction (2 of 4, WIP #2 4K)
Trekstronaughts! The next shot is in - I over-rendered the # of frames needed here, so I will be trimming them down to better match the narration. I also added back in the shadows from the rings on the ships. I think I'll go ahead and modify them a bit. I will lighten the "rocks" and get some parallax movement going on them, just so it's not a static mask (as well as blur them a bit more).
I also need to increase the subdivs on the sphere the HDRI is mapped to, as it's a bit lumpy right now. :/

As always this is rendered in 3DSMax 2022.3, using VRay 6 GPU Optix. I'm using two 4090 RTXs. Render time averages were between 2m and 3m15s, with about .5s-1.5s for post effects application per frame. It's 600 frames long at 24fps.
I used settings of 256 max samples, .02 noise target, 32 samples per pixel and 384 ray bundle size. I maxed texture res out at 16K.
Post in After Effects, using Sapphire by BorisFX for the lens flares, and Red Giant Looks for the color correction.
