Hubble's video: WHAT IF THE SUN DIES

Many peoples used to make a god of the Sun: the Egyptians worshipped god Ra, the Greeks called it Helios, and the Slavs adored the all-mighty Jarilo. As for the Japanese, they believed that the star was a parent of their nation. In fact, they were not far away from the truth: the Sun is a mandatory constituent without which life on the Earth in its current forms would be impossible. If we dismiss the primitive beliefs and turn to science, we will see that the Sun, due its huge mass, size and temperature has particular effect on the processes taking place on the planet Earth. As for its characteristics, this is a star from the main sequence and because of that its life term is about 10 bln years. From the point of view of the Earth sizes, the Sun is huge. It has a diameter of almost one and a half million kilometers and a mass of 2,000 bln billions kilograms! Moreover, it is very hot, and the temperature on its surface amounts to about 6,000 K. It is not static and turns around the center of our galaxy - the Milky Way - at a speed of 217 km/s. The Sun turns a complete circle for about 250 mln years.
