Vetiver may be the name on the marquee, but the soul of the band is folk singer-songwriter and long-time Inner Richmond neighborhood resident Andy Cabic. A Virginia native, Cabic moved to San Francisco in 1998 and linked up with a community of like-minded artists and musicians. Driven by their shared love of folk and 60’s tinged melodic pop, he struck up a friendship with one, Devandra Banhart, and founded a label called Gnomonsong. Over 6 albums, Vetiver has taken many forms, but the inspiration remains the same — love, Americana, and the quieter corners of the city he calls home. This is his San Francisco.
