@Road Train In Remote Australia Leaves Dust Storm: Worlds Biggest Trucks & Friendliest Drivers
Earth shakes on the dirt 'highway' in Central Australia. Friendly blast on the horn as huge cattle road train roars past.! You may also like: Last Shuttle Launches http://youtu.be/71UwtM-S-i4 A "Western Star". Shot on the Plenty Highway 150 kms NW of Alice Springs, Central Australia. Check out the receding cloud of dust as the truck and its three trailers speed off into the distance on I just managed pull over and get my IPhone out in time to get this hurried shot. You gotta love the man made dust storm. All part of a day's work in the Centre. The truck belongs to MacDonald Downs Station near to Alice Springs -- 250 kms to the North East. It's a Western Star. They are built in Portland, Oregon. Trucking 'Down Under' is tough on men and machines. There've been quite a few cattle trucks lose it and flip over over the years. The dirt roads are rough (but they're called highways... and the reason for that is a great story in itself) and the bill for repairs must be huge. Even the bodies of a top line Toyota Landcruiser start getting nasty cracks after just a few years. Australian road trains must be the biggest trucks in the world to regularly travel on public roads. Anyway, it makes a great video. Wild country. Great for tourism -- a holiday dream! Check it out for yourself.
