Dive into a world of online courses at Humber! "A writer, I think, is someone who pays attention to the world." ― Susan Sontag Everyone who works on a film is a storyteller. Whether you’re directing, shooting, editing, you must know what the story is and how to build it. Screenwriting 1 will teach you, as the primary storyteller, to access your own experiences, memories, concerns and passions, even if you don’t see yourself as a writer. Online work will provide you with readings, viewings and exercises to let you explore your feelings and express yourself in private journals. You’ll learn screenwriting craft to write a clear script with a meaningful story. Remote ‘in-class’ sessions will bring you together with your classmates, often in smaller groups. You'll review and brainstorm for more progress as you write a short film to specific guidelines where you – just you – will be: The Writer, The Director, The Cinematographer, The Casting Director and Editor. You’ll work from bare idea, to a formal proposal for a specific storyline, to writing two drafts of this script, before you shoot this film in second term. You will be a stronger storyteller.
