@CBA16 #12: Local climate solutions in cities
Organised communities of the urban poor are implementing local climate solutions in cities across the global South. Faced daily with the effects of climate change – ranging from floods to fires to food insecurity and more, urban poor communities are working with each other, local government and other stakeholders to address climate change from the ground up. Using tools such as community-driven risk mapping and assessment, climate action stakeholder forums, development of city and settlement climate policies and action plans, and the establishment of city funds to access climate finance at the local level, urban poor communities are applying the LLA principles to address climate where it counts. This session on 'Local climate solutions in cities: applying the locally led adaptation principles in slums and informal settlements' at the 16th International Conference on Community-based Adaptation (CBA16) explored how to scale up some of these initiatives. This session was organised by SDI and Cities Alliance. More details: https://cba16.iied.org/session12/
