India Vs South Africa ICC T20 World cup 2007 highlights 720p HD The T20 WC Championships in 2007 in many ways marked the birth of a giant called T20 cricket, which would later go on to spread and dominate world cricket. Yes, T20 internationals were played even before the World Cup, but the inaugural edition turned out to be a mega-event which kick-started the rapid growth of the format. The World Cup, which was conducted in South Africa, was won by a young Indian side led by skipper MS Dhoni, who was leading the national side for the first time. India defeated arch-rivals Pakistan in a thrilling final at Johannesburg to take the crown. 12 teams, divided into 4 groups of 3 each, participated in the inaugural edition of the World Cup. The top 2 teams from each group qualified for the super-8 stages, which was divided into 2 groups of 4 each. Two teams from each group -which turned ged the leading wicket-taker with 13 wickets to his name. Shahid Afridi was named the Man of the Series, for his all-round show which included 12 wickets. The tournament saw a number of nail-biting matches and close encounters. The audience were entertained with action-packed cricket from all sides over a period of three weeks. There were innumerable memorable moments, but the highlight of the tournament was India's Yuvraj Singh smashing 6 sixes in an over from England's Stuart Broad in the super-8 clashes. Other highlights included the tied game between India and Pakistan in the group stages (which was won by India in the bowl-out), Chris Gayle's century - the first by a batsman in T20Is - against South Africa (which went in vain), Sri Lanka posting a record total of 260 and winning by a record margin of 172 runs against Kenya and Brett Lee's hat-trick against Bangladesh (the first by a bowler in T20Is). Above everything else, it was the emergence of a young and relatively inexperienced Indian side that stole the show. India made a first round exit in the 50 over World Cup held in the same year, but the dream run of the next generation players in the T20 WC provided relief and happiness to its fans. The team did not have a permanent coach, and was led by a new skipper, but they showed tremendous energy and desire which ultimately led to the championship title.
