Ruth is an indigenous female leader from the Uchupiamona community in the Bolivian Amazon. As an environmental defender, she protects her forest and its main river Tuichi against destructive mining and large-scale dams. But being a woman makes it twice as hard to make her voice heard. How does she cope with this? How does it fuel her determination to stand up for her rights against the men in power? How does her gender - the strong connection women have with their natural environment – make her an even more powerful advocate for forest protection? Ruth is part of a resistance network in Bolivia called Contiocap.
