IUCNNL's video: Exemplary Cases of Good Chinese Investor Responsibility

@Exemplary Cases of Good Chinese Investor Responsibility
China is often criticized for failing to consider the harmful effects of their overseas investments. Oil, coal and hydropower projects can have devastating impacts on the lives of local communities and their land, forests and rivers. But there are positive examples in which Chinese investors demonstrate their social and environmental responsibility. In Peru, Chinese companies decided not to explore for oil in indigenous territories, respecting local populations' rights to say no to projects on their lands. In Gabon, a Chinese bank withdrew from financing a dam which was going to cover famous waterfalls inside a National Park. Using these examples, we can strengthen responsible performance and make best practices the rule rather than the exception. View more examples on iucn.nl/chinese-investments
