HVDC Leyte–Luzon is a 350 kvdc high-voltage direct current transmission line in the Philippines between geothermal power plants on the islands of Leyte and Luzon. Built by the ABB Group, it was commissioned on August 10, 1998, the date also given as the start of operations. The Japan International Cooperation Agency conducted the feasibility study, which was planned long before. The line was managed by the state-owned National Transmission Corporation, and on January 15, 2009, it began to be managed by the privately owned National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP). The Leyte–Luzon line is 461 km long, 350 kvdc and has a capacity of 440 MW.
