Ian Black's video: 2:30 EXHALE Breath Hold Personal Best

@2:30 EXHALE Breath Hold (Personal Best!)
This video was requested by Musical Tube whose channel can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCQwruOmUv_fhl2JZzgmLv9Q :) I don't have much to say about this one for two reasons; firstly, I have already talked at length about breath holds in general in the description for this video which I highly recommend reading if you are at all interested: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D_e2CU6QdbE&ab_channel=IanBlack And secondly, exhale breath holds are not something I regularly do and therefore I know less about them and have less to compare them to. As you might expect, there's less air in your lungs and so your oxygen reserves are lower, and as a result your overall time won't be so high... but I kinda like putting up big numbers :P Also, the relaxation phase doesn't seem as long with an exhale breath hold, for understandable and obvious reasons (hello, hypoxia!). The 'exhale' in question takes place from 0:18 to 0:22. Honestly, if I had exhaled any more I would probably have been in great discomfort as I was in my trial run yesterday; if you empty your lungs too much it can feel like your throat is closing up, which is a very distracting and unpleasant sensation. The actual breath hold begins at 0:22 when you can hear and see me finishing my exhale and sealing my mouth. Somewhere around 2:10 (one minute forty seven into the breath hold) I start to get uncomfortable, as indicated by my swallowing and opening my eyes to check the time. Beyond that point, it becomes increasingly difficult not to breathe, and I tell myself "just five more seconds... then five after that... then another five". It feels more manageable when broken down like this. At 2:53 (two minutes and thirty seconds into the breath hold) I finally inhale and the breath hold is completed. At this point there is an immense sense of calm that washes over me like a wave, and every breath is wonderful... perhaps that's how we should always feel. "The secret of happiness, you see, is not found in seeking more, but in developing the capacity to enjoy less" ~ Socrates
