Ian Rosales Casocot's video: Ang Higante by Lolo Cencio Inocencio Baga-an

@Ang Higante by Lolo “Cencio” Inocencio Baga-an
Born on 28 December 1937, Lolo “Cencio” is perhaps one of the rarest find in the research conducted by Charlyne Mamigo and Flordeliz Mate for my English 234 class. They were tasked to research on the literature of the third district of Negros Oriental. They found Lolo “Cencio” in the upper mountains of Malabugas, Bayawan. The researchers needed to cross a river to reach his house. The researchers met him by chance while conducting research in a nearby barangay. He then began telling his stories, which he calls “binut-bot,” to co-workers in the farm. He is known in his community as a storyteller, that even the children living near can retell some of his stories. The term "binut-bot" was use because most of his stories are fantastical and beyond reality. He tells stories about magic, mythical creatures like the higantes and wizards, and some with a touch of religion. In this video, the researchers recorded telling the story "Ang Higante," or "The Giant."
