In this video we take a look back to the Golden Age of MMA. These were the UFCs dark years when it was made "illegal" in the United States. With the PPV money gone the big money for fights in the US dried up. Japan was more than happy to take nearly all of the best fighters in the world and bring them to PRIDE Fighting Championships. These fighters are some greatest in the history of the sport and had skills twenty years ago that could compete in today's MMA landscape. To say they were ahead of their time is an understatement. I hope that in 50-100 years people look back on these fighters and talk about them like we talk about Sugar Ray Robinson or Joe Louis today. These fighters were all involved in some of the most iconic and memorable fights in history and it was fun to take a look back while making this video. PRIDE was the greatest MMA organization in history. Part of it was their near monopoly on the best talent of the day. Part of it was the rule set. Part of it was that fighting in a ring promotes more action and less stalling than a cage. Part of it was that most of the fighters were juiced to the gills. Part of it was the tournaments. Part of it was the freakshow fights. Part of it was the pageantry. But when they put it all together you got MMA magic.
