- And farsi Shayar - Mirza Ghalib - About Mujeeb Khan and Ideal Drama and Entertainment Academy (IDEA) Established in the year 2003, Ideal Drama and Entertainment Academy (IDEA) has been working extensively towards the service of stage and theatre since its inception. IDEA has been staging plays on the stories of Munshi Premchand every week for past 600+ weeks under the series “Adab main Prem Chand hoon”. Committed to stage all the available short stories of Munshiji (that amounts to 315), IDEA so far has staged 313 stories. It’s a record in itself for any theatre group to have staged so many stories of a single writer, for this ‘IDEA’s name has been registered in the ‘Limca Book of Record’. Apart from staging Munshiji’s stories IDEA also stages stories by Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore under the series “Namaskar main Rabindranath Tagore hoon” and Saadat Hasan Manto under the series “Manto Ka Deewanapan”. ‘IDEA’ also stages ‘Ismat Manto’s Jugalbandi’ a play on the relationship of Ismat Chugtai and Manto, which is an absolutely different concept on stage. ‘Mahabharata’ epic staged by ‘IDEA’ in poetic form. IDEA stages regular shows on ‘Mirza Ghalib’ ‘Allama Iqbal’, ‘Shaheed Bhagat Singh’ ‘Mahatma Gandhi’, ‘Parveen Shakir’ ‘Firaq Gorakhpuri’ and many more Hindi and Urdu Litrary Personality. IDEA actively supports “Journalistic Theatre” and dutifully as a service to mankind performs street plays based on various ongoing social issues like Corruption, HIV Aids, Malnutrition (Kuposhan), Importance of School, Education for all, Women Empowerment, Save Water, Ragging in Colleges, Drugs etc. at various locations ranging from the schools and colleges of Mumbai, to the slums of Dharavi, to the suburban railway stations like CST, Wadala, Andheri etc. to the streets of remote locations like Bhiwandi and Kalyan on the out skirts of Mumbai City and this is not limited to the city of Mumbai only, the actors from IDEA have performed these plays at various venues, numerous times across the country. IDEA offers a platform to the new, budding and aspiring artists. IDEA family consists of more than 100 active artists from all the parts of the country and all religions. A team with the youngest member being 5 years old to some of the senior most members being 70+ years of age. A unique mixture of energy and experience, this team speaks loads about the cultural and ethical values being practiced at IDEA. Mujeeb Khan, is founder president and creative director of IDEA. Starting his theatre at age of 9, writing first play at the age 14 which is corrected by veteran writer and film actor Kader Khan who is also a teacher and stage guru of Mr Mujeeb Khan’s early staged. He has also learned a lot from Shafi Inamdar, Shekhar Prohit and Shaikh Ahmed. At the age of 18 he wrote a play ‘Lachare Mai’ which was witnessed by a great writer of the era ‘Ismat Chugtai’,where she was a judge and asked Mr Khan his age. She could not believe that it is a work of an 18 years old boy and asked him to meet her regularly for moulding Mr. Khan for his new plays. Mr Mujeeb Khan is a great craftsman, he directs plays in his own style which is very unique and he always experiments on stage. In his early age he directed two plays in the same competition where Shoukat Kaifi was a judge and she admits that the competition was very easy but we could not decide for best director because two plays was directed by the same man and we tossed. Mr Khan Directed more then 500 one Act Plays and more then 10 full length plays. Many a times he was awarded the best writer and director award in various competitions. He also directed plays like’ Spartacus’, ‘Kabira Khada Bazar mein’, ‘Saat Rang’, ‘Ismat Manto Jugalbandi’, ‘Shaheed Bhagat Singh’, ‘Mahatma Aur Gurudev’, ‘Azad Ka Khawab Hindustan Ki AZadi’, ‘Mahatma Jyotiba Phule’, ‘Sugandhi’, ‘Swami Vivekanand’, and Ramdhari Singh’s ‘Rashmirathi’. Very important work in theatre by Mr. Khan is that he introduced ‘Journalistic Theatre’ in India. He has done more than twenty plays. He has done some huge serials like ‘Andaz’ , ‘Chandni’, ‘Saath Saath’, and more then thousand episodes of film based. He also anchored a prog on UTV Star ‘Baten Ankahi’. He is also a professional acting trainer.
