A lot of the lessons that Javier Trujillo shares with me in this conversation can be used when planning your small business, developing your own brand, self branding, planning your escape from the 9-5 and going full time with your side hustle. In many ways for Javier, being an MMA fighter was his side hustle. He was able to plan his escape from the 9 to 5 and take his side hustle full time as a fighter. He was able to do that by planning and being lean with his costs while also understanding the market. Despite loving his job as a hotshot firefighter Javier wanted to escape the 9 to 5 rat race and pursue his chance at being a professional MMA fighter.
