The first and most obvious indicator is YouTube’s robot copyright police, AKA ‘Content ID’ flagging up the video with a copyright claim. Luckily, so far this has only resulted in one video being blocked, with most copyright holders happy to simply let the video stay up and take the lion’s share of the monetization! Of course Content ID thinking that Lucas’ recreation is actually the original track is itself a compliment, but this week Lucas managed to earn the ultimate accolade of the appreciation and approval of the original artist! (Well in this case, one half of the original artists) The track in question is ‘Apollo’ by Thomas Schumacher and Victor Ruiz, and after seeing our DRC Sound Design Tutorial, Thomas Tweeted “BEST deconstruction of any of my tracks I have seen so far. Hats off to @imaginando_pt for pulling this one off. Amazing.” Check out the video for yourself as Lucas takes you through two basses, a pad and a lead, with fantastic results!
