For what seems like forever, Bill Gates has cemented his place as one of the richest men on the planet with a current net worth of 120 billion dollars. Through his long career as the founder of the Microsoft Company, the tech guru has inspired groundbreaking innovations within the tech industry and even in areas far beyond the realm of science. Quite the Enigma, Over the years, Bill Gates has made a lot of money, not only from his company Microsoft, and their various subsidiaries but from many well planned and timely investments in various sectors through his holding company, Cascade Investments, LLC A lot of people want to know how he spends his vast and seemingly ever-growing fortune. And from holidaying on superyachts to stunning mansions and even a private plane, there's plenty to talk about. Being extremely wealthy usually comes with high taste and an affinity for luxury. Bill Gates is no exception. With a vast amount of his money spent on various luxury homes, automobiles, and various other properties. By a huge margin, Bill Gates spends most of his money on his vast list of properties. The pride of the bunch, his most well-known home, nicknamed Xanadu 2.0 in Medina, Washington, is worth an incredible $125 million From then, it took another $63 million to build the enormous structure to Bill Gates' taste. In case you're wondering, what this means is that the home is completely decked out with everything he could ever want. The house is so big; it even has its own Wikipedia page. Named Xanadu 2.0 in honour of Xanadu, the fictional mansion of the protagonist in Citizen Kane, the 66,000 square foot mansion is an earth-sheltered house built into the coastline to help regulate temperature and look pretty cool as well Members of the Gates family wear pins that adjust rooms as they walk, setting the temperature, lighting and music to their specifications without even having to touch a button. They're also $150, 000 worth of screens that cycle through pictures of famous artwork around the home. Now, these features are impressive enough, but pretty much any random rich guy could have them in their own home. Bill Gates probably knew this, which is why he saved a few features that only someone as wealthy as him could afford There's the 1,500 square-foot home theatre, with 20 comfy and plush seats, a popcorn machine and an art décor design. That art décor design is carried through into the 2,100 square-foot library, where there is a Great Gatsby quote etched into the ceiling. The magnificent library is also fitted with two hidden rooms behind the bookshelves, one of which opens up into a luxurious relaxation area. If ever guests are over, there are plenty of ways to keep them entertained. The 2,300 square-foot reception hall can host and seat two hundred people. For more private affairs, the dining room has enough seating for up to 24 dinner guests. Then there's the outside, where the pool has its own building. Instead, the man is rich enough to import beach sand all the way from the Caribbean, so that's exactly what he did. You would too if you wanted to have white beach sand in the Pacific NorthWest (and a few millions, of course) The Xanadu 2.0 was the first time Bill Gates splurged millions of dollars on a home but certainly not his last. His most recent piece of real estate is almost as impressive as the Xanadu. He bought The Del Mar home for $43 million on March, 27th 2020. The 5,800 square-foot home has six bedrooms, four bathrooms and 120 feet of beachfront access. ‘ The interior of the house is lined with light mahogany and limestone. The patio faces the water and is amply fitted with various perfectly fitted sitting areas, fire pits, Jacuzzi tubs and a stunning infinity pool. The million-dollar beach home also has a health spa, a home theatre, a tennis court, a large greenhouse and a pair of guest houses. As impressive as The new Del Mar home is, it's just another in Bill Gates' long list of real estate investments in California. Way back in 2014, he bought Rancho Passiana, a 229-acre compound outside of San Diego. The Billionaire tech guru is a big fan of horse properties. Apart from this one, he owns several other ranch properties in Wellington, Florida, with their combined worth totalling over $59 million. There are several homes, stables, pastures, and race tracks spread across Rancho Passiana. At least one of the homes on the property is 7,000 square feet, with four bedrooms and six bathrooms.
