In fact, some islands around Greenland were only discovered recently. Between 1999 to 2004, a group of islands started to emerge in the Northwestern part of Greenland. The story of this frozen forest is as real as it gets. It dates way back to 1,000 years ago when the Mendenhall glacier started advancing and covered up a forest in the gravel. This gravel shielded the forest to the extent the glacier was able to advance right on top of it. These days, due to several factors, the glacier is retreating and trees, most of which remain undamaged, are being uncovered. 7.
