Chocolate Hills, Philippines Have you ever looked at a hill and just thought, I'd like to eat that? If not, you're in luck. The Chocolate Hills in the Philippines might be your first. These Hills are covered with a carpet of rough grasses that are green when it rains. In the dry season, the grass covering these rolling hills turns brown, making it look like a field of giant Hershey's kisses which is how they got the name, chocolate hills. Still hungry? Hah! That's what I thought. The hills are so flawlessly shaped that it's easy to believe that they are man-made. No one's sure how they came to be, but the locals here believe that the area used to be a playground for giants who would haul rocks at each other whenever they had issues to resolve. The giants eventually settled, but the mounds remained where the rocks landed, creating a natural formation unlike no other in the world. 9. The Enchanted River (Philippines) If you see a picture of the Enchanted River, you'd probably argue that it was photoshopped. At least, that's what most people that have never been here say. For locals and the people who have, though, it's one of the most magical places on earth. Named because of the local belief that it is a dwelling place for magical beings like fairies and elves, locals swear by the magical power of the Hinatuan River. Apart from being clear to the point of disbelief, the water is also said to house some mythical creatures. Fishermen claim that although the river is filled with fish, they've never been able to catch any, no matter what they try. Others reported seeing long-haired females swimming in the water before they vanished into fireflies. Whether for its enchanting beauty or Mystical powers, it's clear that the Enchanted River is surrounded by mystery. 8. The Glowing Shores of Vaadhoo Do you know there's a beach in Maldives that glows at night? Yep, you heard that right! A glow in the dark beach. For a long time, this place was Maldives' best-kept secret, but now it has become one of the best places to visit in the world- and for good reason. The island of Vaadhoo has earned itself a place on the list of the most magical places on earth because of its Sea of Stars phenomenon. This shimmering sea mirrors the star-studded sky at night, and all it takes is just one look to get lost in the magic of the water. This glow-in-dark is caused by a little something called 'Bioluminescence' where living organisms produce light. The sea is big, mysterious and full of unknown creatures that light up the sea's shorelines in the most magical manner. The result is a magical effect that brings people from far and wide to witness nature's work of art 7. Neuschwanstein Castle, Germany Towering high in the mountains, its white towers reaching towards the sky, Neuschwanstein Castle in Bavaria, Germany looks like a castle brought to life from a storybook. Thinking about it now, it may as well have been what King Ludwig II of Bavaria was aiming for when he built this magical castle. Bavaria had just lost the war against Prussia in 1886 and lost all of its military might. The defeated Ludwig decided to build the Neuschwanstein to live out his fantasy as a fairy tale King. Although most of the castle was almost done by the time the King died in 1886, he didn't see it completed. The fairytale castle is one of the most famous castles in Europe. This castle also served as the inspiration for Sleeping Beauty's castle in Disneyland. How's that for a real-life magical castle. 6. Tianzi Mountain (China) There's a local saying in this part of China. Those who have climbed the Tianzi Mountain will not climb any other mountain. And considering the beauty of this place, it may not be far from the truth. It's a mouthful, but once you visit Tianzi floating mountains, you will never forget the experience. For one, there are over 3,000 pillars covered in dangling vines and twisted pines that rise from the fog in this mystical land. The peak of the mountain's spot offers a panoramic view of the entire Wulingyuan area- which is majestic, to say the least. Rumor has it Tianzi mountains were the inspiration behind the Hallelujah Mountains in the James Cameron movie Avatar. The name Tianzi came from a local farmer Xiang Dakun who led the farmers' revolt and called himself Tianzi, which means Son of Heaven.
