He declared himself an unapologetic Sanatani Hindu and called for a national act to protect the Sanatana Dharma. Kalyan also criticised Tamil Nadu's Deputy Chief Minister Uday Nidhi for his comments on Sanatana Dharma. The controversy follows a row over the alleged adulteration of Tirupati Prasadam.
