IndianRaga's video: Essence of Ranganatha Kuchipudi Dance

@Essence of Ranganatha | Kuchipudi Dance
The song is Rangapura Vihara by Muttuswamy Dikshitar to Ranganatha - reclining form of Lord Vishnu. His bhakti(devotion) is depicted throughout the song by describing Lord Rama's avatar of Vishnu. Various elements such as Garuda (the king of birds) as his vehicle, the serpent Sesha as his bed, the sun & moon as his eyes, his bow, his blue skin etc. are described in this song. The idea of this production is to use the traditional dance-drama elements of kuchipudi and weave it with fast paced Nritta to keep the pace and feel of the choreography varying throughout. The Angikabhinayam (expression of limbs) has a lot of variation to show Rama, his consort Sita, his vehicle Garuda, Shanku, Chakra, his blue skin, his bow (kodanda), his snake bed (vishnu's avataram). The Vachikabhinayam (expression of speech) focuses on showcasing the bhakti bhavam by impersonating Muthuswamee who is singing this song out of devotion to Lord Ranganatha. The Nritta portions play with incorporating dynamic speeds while maintaining the rhythm.
