Jhulan Yatra (swing festival) is observed in the month of Shravan and is dedicated to Lord Krishna and Lord Jagannath. It is of great importance in Vrindavan, Lord Jagannath Temples, ISKCON and Mayapur. Jhulan Yatra festival is inspired from Lord Krishna’s pastimes in Vrindavan. It is believed that Lord Krishna, Radha and other used to swing in the monsoon season in Vrindavan. The festival is accompanied by dance and music. On this day devotees place an idol of Krishna and Goddess Radha is placed. The festival is not a mere ritual but a message from Lord Krishna to be with Nature and enjoy the cool breeze of monsoon.
