International Medical Corps's video: Part One: Preparing to enter the Wangata Ebola Treatment Center

@Part One: Preparing to enter the Wangata Ebola Treatment Center
Part One of the tour of our Wangata Ebola Treatment Center in Mbandaka, Equator province in the DRC. We maintain strict protocols for entering the Ebola Treatment Center to prevent the spread of infectious disease. When someone enters the Ebola treatment center the first thing they need to do is to wash their hands. The second step is to spray our feet, because we must enter the Ebola treatment center with disinfected feet. After that, we must move on to the screening. After the screening, we can enter the Ebola treatment center to start with our daily activities. This is the zone where we get dressed. We now need to get dressed to enter the high-risk zone to go see the patients that are inside. Now, we need to start by putting on the first pair of gloves. After putting on the first gloves, now we need to put on the suit. We must wear the suit. Here, the hygienist is helping me to get dressed. He must do his job well. Now, when he’s done, I must put on a mask. That is the hood that I will wear to cover my head. After this step, he must write on my back to identify me, because when we’re in the high-risk zone, when we are masked like this, we cannot recognize who is who. We also need to write the medical department on the hood. And we must also write my name on my forehead to identify me. Now, we must put on the apron. Now, I’m going to put on the second pair of gloves. Now when I’m done, I have only the last step left, which is to put on the goggles. Now at the end, he must verify that there are no openings. Now that my preparation is complete, I am ready to enter the high-risk zone.
