IrishAid's video: Gorongosa Lion Project

@Gorongosa Lion Project
This short film by the Gorongosa Restoration Project, in Gorongosa National Park in Mozambique, tells the story of how the lion population, once wiped out due to civil war and hunting has now been restored in the Park, with local communities now protecting the wildlife they once hunted. Mozambique is one of Ireland’s key partner countries in Africa, and Irish Aid has provided support for improved agriculture, education and health for the communities in the buffer zones surrounding the Park. Gorongosa, which has been described as one of the best restoration projects in the world, illustrates the benefits to human populations of protecting local wildlife and the environment, and the importance of ensuring that the wellbeing of people animals and nature is kept in balance.
