But man what a fun series! Subscribe and we'll tell you more cool facts! 1: In the original Dragon Quest/ Dragon Warrior, when you reach Dragonlord, at the end of the game Spoiler: he will ask you to join him in his quest. If you accept, he will put your team to sleep, the game will freeze, and you have to reset the game. 2: In the Game Boy Colour version of DW3, There are Monster Medal graphics for all the monsters of Dragon Warrior IV. These cannot be seen normally, and there’s no official statement as to why they’re there! 3: In the MSX version of Dragon Quest II, talking to the King of Ladatorm without having anything equipped to the princess will get the player the "Skimpy Swimsuit." The screen will then cut to a drawing of the princess in the swimsuit briefly before returning to the game. 4: The Japanese version of the game did not feature voice acting, or an orchestrated soundtrack like the North American and European versions. This means that the English version of Dragon Quest VIII was the first time voice acting was used in the series. 5: When the original Dragon Quest was being prepared for the west, Enix and Nintendo had expected it to be the same runaway success that it had been in Japan. The port of the game released in the west was actually better than the original Japanese version, due to having a battery backup save system and improved graphics. 6: In DQ8: There is a hidden room where a bunny girl will give the character a "puff-puff". The character is blindfolded, and the bunny girl rubs two Slimes against the character's head in a sensual way. 7: The 3DS Streetpass was inspired by Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies on the Nintendo DS. There was a feature called “Tag” mode, that while your DS while it was in Sleep mode you would share items and treasure maps with other players you passed. 8: DQ6 has an interesting play on the secret dungeon. 9: There’s a great bug in DQ3 which allows you to take half damage. 10: There was a rumor for Dragon Quest 5 that if the Hero chose Nera as a bride, Bianca's father would die, and you could visit his tomb could be in Bianca's village. This rumor turned out to be false. 11: It’s been suggested that Dragon Quest VI:Realms of Revelations is the very first game to have instigated pre-order bonuses. Of you purchased it through Gamestop, you received a slime plushy! 12: Many DQ4 fans suggest Sephiroth's appearance is based on Psaro's. And there’s even a joke based on this suggesting that Psaro and Sephiroth actually being secret twins, and they are collectively called "Psaroth". 13: Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King was released in North America on November 15, 2005, and shipped with a playable Final Fantasy XII demo disc. And we know that Gilgamesh holds onto the Wymhero, which you can also aquire in game… coincidence? I think not. 14: The Hero of DQ8 shares a hairstyle with Goten during the final moments of Dragonball Z, and even spikes up like a Super Saiyan when his tension is maxed. 15: Medea's name is inspired from greek mythology, Medea was princess who fell in love with Jason but was left for another bride. 16: DQ9’s Patty and Selma are direct references to The Simpsons! The two Matlock loving, Homer hating sisters of Marge! 17: DQ has a spinof game called Kenshin Dragon Quest: Yomigaerishi Densetsu no Ken which is an is an all in one television game that you controll with a sword. It doesn’t require a console, and uses the sword strokes to attack, and a shield to defend. Because of great reception, this game inspired a sequel on the Wii, with Dragon Quest Swords! 18: in DQ Swords: All of the notable characters in the game are named after edged weapons; queen curtana is a pun on "Katana" the Japanese sword, A Fleurette is a light fencing sword, an Anlace is a medieval dagger, and a Claymore is a large broadsword. Furthermore, Fleurette disregards the Hero's name, instead calling him "Blade". 19: DQ8’s Trodain robe can be obtained in Dragon Quest 9 as an easter egg by defeating Rhapthorne as a legacy boss. 20: There was a rumor that there is a dragon quest LAW in Japan, that the game has to be released on a weekend because of it’s popularity, and that everyone stops work to go and pick up a copy. This isn’t true that it’s a law, however it IS true that When DQ3 was released, over 300 schoolchildren were arrested for truancy while waiting in stores for the game to be released, and this is what sparked the urban legend. ---- Like us on Facebook: www.facebook.com/itssupereffectiveisawesome Follow us on Twitter: https://twitter.com/iseffective ---- Design & Video by: http://www.zoku.ca/ Editing by: http://adrienlatapie.com/ Research by: Rob Kenigsberg Sound Design by: https://soundcloud.com/habster
