World Wrestling Insanity's video: Matt Anoa i aka WWE s Rosie Full Shoot Interview 2006

@Matt Anoa'i aka WWE's Rosie Full Shoot Interview (2006)
From Three Minute Warning to Super Hero In Training, Rosie was unforgettable. In 2006, James Gutman spoke to him about his entire career. James opens the interview by asking Rosey about life after WWE. Rose says that he was fortunate to not be held to WWE’s no-compete clause. He’s been setting up work with Indys and All-Japan, where he started last month. Guttman brings up Rosey’s tag team stint as the Samoan Gangstas. He mentions how Rose had done a few shows where he beat up Samu before going to ECW. Ro says that he had waited a while before going to his dad for work in wrestling. When he did, he went to Puerto Rico and worked for Carlos Colon. After nine months, he got a call to go to try out in WWE. He went there and got hired. It was short lived, though. After a month’s worth of house shows, Vince McMahon and Samu didn’t see things eye-to-eye so they severed their ties and he went to ECW. JG asks about being in ECW and Rosey says “Man, it was insane.” He adds that he loved that locker room but didn’t love the smell of blood all the time. Overall, he calls it a cool experience. On whether or not he’s going to the new ECW, he says he’s not sure. He sent an email to Tommy Dreamer. If he hears back, he’ll go. If not, he’ll stick around Japan. James then talks about Rosey’s old partner Jamal being reborn on Raw as Umaga. Ro says he wasn’t happy with the way it went at first, but Jamal is his family so he supports him and talks to him every day. He says he’s very happy for Umaga but hopes he can get out of “that Rob Conway let’s-beat-up-everyone-from-the-80s” thing. He says that if Maga moves on to the big boys, he can keep up with them. From there, Guttman asks about Three Minute Warning, citing the time they beat up two lesbians. Rose says that it started out great and then there was a crack in the boat. After that they started to sink. He says that when you have a partner you’re close to, you’re held responsible for what they do. The way Ro sees it, everything happens for a reason. He’s not going to sit around and cry about it. JG mentions how all looked good when 3MW was feuding with Billy and Chuck, but then it fizzled out. Ro-Z says he was given no reason why it fizzled. He’s been around the WWE office a long time and knows how it is. He got a call from Jamal saying he had been released. When Rosey called the office to talk about it, they said they had plans for him and didn’t think he should be punished for the mistakes of his partner. “Bottom line is that everybody messes up.” Guttman brings up the stigma of tag teams not liking one another because you’re held responsible for each others’ actions. However, it’s different since Rosey was teaming with a family member. They then talk about being a part of a wrestling family and how you separate personal from business. JG tells Rosey that he’s always wondered how the “Super Hero In Training” gimmick was pitched to him. Rose says that once Jamal was released, he told Vince McMahon that he was open to any ideas because “in WWE, longevity is key.” Brian Gewertz pitched the idea and at first Ro was apprehensive since he never worked baby face. He thought it was out of his character range. He called his cousin Rikishi to talk about it since he went through a similar situation. Luckily, it went well and allowed him to do more charity work with kids. James tells Rosey that Barry Darsow had said the same thing a few weeks back on RFI about switching from Demolition Smash to Repo Man. Guttman mentions that Three Minute Warning Rosey would probably scare sick kids as opposed to the Super Hero character. When asked about which gimmick he enjoyed more, Rose says he would take “Three Minute Warning with my cousin any day.” He felt that they could be right up there with many of the best tag teams. Rosey adds that he doesn’t want to take anything away from his team with the Hurricane. He says, “I love that little punk to death, man. He’s awesome. He‘s a very good guy. Talented as hell. He made it fun. I truly believe that if it was anyone else, it wouldn‘t have been as fun.” JG asks about their surprising tag title win and Ro says that it was surprising to him too since he didn’t think they were over enough at first. In a way, he thinks it was bittersweet since he wishes that he could have won the titles as a member of Three Minute Warning. The interview with Rosey goes on from there and is available in full over at WorldWrestlingInsanity.com. James and Rose discuss the problems with developmental territories, those who take it for granted, the Von Erichs, Shane McMahon, Hurricane‘s heel turn, when Rosey knew his time was over, beating up the HLA Lesbians, who he‘d like to wrestle, and much more.
