Kelly & Brendan started their granola business for $100 and turned it into a $25 MILLION company. Kelly Flatley and Brendan Synnott co-founded the Bear Naked granola company in 2002. Bear Naked company History Kelly began making 10pound batches of granola for herself in her own kitchen. After sharing some with friends and family and hearing the good feedback, she decided to take it to the next level. She started making more and more and quickly decided to try selling it locally in her Connecticut hometown. In 2003, they came up with a plan to get into a local Norwalk, CT growery store chain (Stew Leonard's). Kelly Flatley talked her partner into dressing up in matching outfits and taking the Owner of the Grocery Store company breakfast in bed. They showed up early in the morning with their granola and ended up getting a deal with the store who in turn ordered 50 cases. Later that same year the Bear Naked products were being sold in over 400 stores on the east coast. In 2005 Bear Naked had $25 MILLION in sales and became the granola brand in the world. They went from making 200 lbs of granola each day in 2002 to over 50,000 lbs/day in 2007. In 2007, Kashi (a division of the Kellogg Company) bought Bear Naked, Inc. for $60 MILLION.
