Aurora Cannabis has been one of the top stocks and companies within its industry for the last 3-4 years. In that time it has seen some significant growth within that time however 2019 was not very profitable for them and they saw a major decline in profits. The recent global illness has not made things any easier for ACB stock as it caused their share price to fall below the $1 level and forced them into a reverse stock split at a 12/1 ratio…
Before their stores were forced to close back in April, revenue and profit margins were increasing quite a bit however for now they can only sell online which will most likely lead to a decline in sales and profits.
Additionally, their cash on hand is not looking so good and it will be much harder for them to stay afloat especially in these types of market conditions. A positive thing to note is that consumption will absolutely be on the rise as people are home much more than ever before and will be forced into ordering their products online. Hopefully this will help keep Aurora’s sales at a respectable level in order to keep investors happy and the company above water. Aurora has laid off over 500 employees in order to save money, increase their cash and maintain their healthy profit margins. In the end, the majority of cannabis stocks are very overvalued and will most likely continue going down if this stock market crash and recession gets worse. BUT that does not mean they will go out of business as stock price does not always reflect the health of a companies financials.
If their margins, sales and net profits increase over the long run then ACB will almost certainly be a good investment for the coming 5-15 years. In the short term, these kinds of things don't always have a massive impact on the stocks price so it's important we think long term when investing and short term when trading.
