My name is Jackson Summers and I'm currently 19 years old and ever since I was young I have been interested in finance and making money online. When I started this channel 3 years ago it was mainly cryptocurrency focussed at the time as I really couldn't trade or invest into stocks or other assets. As the years went on I became more and more Interested in other types of investing like stocks and real estate. Additionally I focussed on making money online with businesses such as service and Retail Arbitrage, From these various methods I managed to save up about $50,000 by the age of 19 years which I was truly proud of and I understand how fortunate I was. Once I turned 18 of course I was able to open up a tax-free savings account which in Canada is similar to a Roth IRA and it essentially allows you to invest into stocks and other assets and let them grow completely tax-free so in the future when you take them out you don't actually have to pay any taxes on your gains. Unfortunately I really didn't start investing until I turned 19 since my finances were not to the level that I felt comfortable investing yet. I wanted to focus more on not trying to time the market and just on real companies that had good growth potential for the future. I went in and put my entire $50,000 in savings into individual stocks. I bought into about 19 different companies, some of my biggest holdings are Corsair Gaming, Revolve, iRobot, Real Matters, and Dropbox! Currently I am up about $8000 USD or $10,000 CAD on my investments which is a 16% return in less than one year which is definitely pretty good however I am well aware that many investors are up 30% + however you have to understand that I did not buy in at the lowest point of the 2020 stock market crash I ended up buying around August to October of 2020 so a lot of the stocks had already bounced back. I'm still really proud of my 16% return because the average stock market gain per year is around 8 to 10% so I'm definitely proud of that.
