General Electric Company (GE) stock has been a staple in the economy and stock market for a very long time however for the last 5-10 years, the company has seen a rapid decline in sales and profits. This has affected their stock price greatly, in 2016 the stock was trading around $30 and now we are sitting at $7 a share which is not so good especially for a company of its size with a current market cap of $65 billion!
Currently we are still in a long term downtrend or bear market even with with the recent growth of over 30% in two months! So in order for us to break out of this trend we need to see a break and close above some of the major resistance levels. For instance the previous high of $13 made back in February is a very important level and so is the $30 region which could signify a long term bull run if we managed to break and close above.
In my opinion, I dont believe General Electric is a good long term investment based off the current fundamentals and technicals however this can definitely change if they get their operations under control. I will absolutely be trading the stock if the opportunity arises however I am not looking at a long term buy until we break some of that major resistance and/or the fundamentals get better!
