The Villupuram - Katpadi Line is a Fully Electrified Single Line (FESL). But since 56881 shares its loco with the Villupuram - Mayiladuthurai Passenger trains, it had a diesel link all these days. Recently Southern Railway decided to operate the Villupuram - Mayiladuthurai Pax shuttles on Electric traction after the CRS Inspection with an electric locomotive was found to be satisfactory. Accordingly 56873, 56874, 56875, 56876, 56877, 56878 are hauled by an electric locomotive since March 01, 2020. This obviously meant that 56881/86 Katpadi - Villupuram - Katpadi Passenger would also run on electric traction. Presenting to you here is the penultimate diesel run as captured on February 28, 2020.
