Scarlett Johansson’s character in “Marriage Story” shows the Law of Attraction in full effect - ⁣ How we draw in the relationships, circumstances and challenges that in some way serve us and our unconscious commitments (in this case, her character’s commitment to partial hiding and not letting the full force of her heart-based creative energy flow all the way)…⁣ ⁣ But the fact that we play a big part in co-creating our life circumstances does *not* mean that we’re not allowed our anger, our frustration or our boundaries - in fact, it’s quite the opposite! ⁣ ⁣ Our unconscious manifests these very challenges for the specific *purpose* of provoking our more buried feelings - ⁣ ⁣ In the hopes that we will no longer bury them and instead let them move through our bodies - and thereby claim some lost part of ourselves. ⁣ ⁣ The fact is that some *part* of Scarlett Johansson chose this relationship in the first place. ⁣ ⁣ Some part of her sought out a life where she would not be fully seen or head. On some level, she was *already* used to compartmentalizing vital aspects of herself and her creative essence. It must be so (or else she wouldn’t have let this marriage reach its current state). The gift of this unsatisfying relationship, then, is that it gives Scarlett the opportunity to confront that compartmentalized aspect of herself. ⁣ ⁣ And she does so by honoring her anger and her frustrations and her boundaries.⁣ ⁣ Not from a place of blame.⁣ ⁣ But from a place of self-responsibility. ⁣ ⁣ This is likely a woman who needed to take a stand for herself for a long time (most likely with her meddlesome mother). ⁣ ⁣ Her unhappy marriage is giving her a chance to finally take that stand. ⁣ ⁣ And to assert the part of herself that says, “I get to have it all.” ⁣ ⁣ Our unconscious is always attracting opportunities for our deepest healing and growth. ⁣ ⁣ And the way we greet the opportunity is by identifying the part of us that created the challenge in the first place.
