It read, "Will you be mine?" in red and white of different shades. She was my best friend—a bit of a tom boy. We made adventures out of everything that we enjoyed. We made it to high school, and one year in, she's popular. I was a drama kid, the class clown, the choir nerd. No one understood, why she would talk to me. Little did we know that what we shared was more than history. [Chorus] Lately, I've been thinking these could be my wishful eyes, but I can't help it. Only time will tell if we could ever be more and she's the one worth waiting for. She got a boyfriend named Mr. Quarterback He was the prom king with an entourage of copy cats. He'd started dating young, but always went with fun. She was his good girl, but not his only one. [Chorus] Later that month, she caught him in the act and that's when I made my intentions clear—I held her caught her every tear. Said she was beautiful, but I knew that years ago.
