Jasmyne Cannick's video: Black Lives Matter Activists File Lawsuit Against L A District Attorney Jackie Lacey and Husband

On Tue. Oct. 20, three members of Black Lives Matter Los Angeles (BLMLA) filed a lawsuit against Los Angeles County District Attorney Jackie Lacey and her husband David Lacey after the latter pointed a gun and threatened to shoot them during an early morning peaceful protest on March 2 in front of the Lacey’s home. The lawsuit was filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court by acclaimed civil rights attorney Carl Douglas (Douglas/Hicks Law) and accuses the Lacey’s of negligence, assault, battery, and the intentional infliction of emotional stress. During the early morning hours of March 2, Dr. Melina Abdullah, 48, knocked on the front door of the Laceys’ Granada Hills residence with the hope of requesting the meeting that DA Lacey agreed to during the October 28, 2019 meeting of the Stonewall Democratic Club. During that meeting, Lacey reluctantly agreed to meet with the Black community before the end of 2019 but did not keep her word. David Lacey opened the door pointing his gun at Abdullah as well as BLMLA members Dahlia Ferlito, 40, and Justin Marks, 31, saying: “Get off of my porch. I will shoot you … I don’t care who you are.” The incident was recorded by the activists and released on social media. David Lacey faces three misdemeanor counts of assault with a firearm involving the March 2 incident.
