So while supporters of Confederate history argue we are on a slippery slope…perhaps we should consider the possibility we are unnecessarily complicating this debate - by fixating on the question of whether taking down these statues means “erasing history”. These monuments may have been intentionally erected decades ago - without full context in their stone inscriptions. But the fact of the matter is - fighting for slavery and performing medical experiments on female slaves is wrong - in any era…unacceptable then - as is now.
