Another tip for home bakers: put two sheets of parchment or wax paper under your cake, the edges meeting in the middle. Frost your cake as messily as you need. Then slowly pull the sheets away from each other at the same time. This should keep the cake in place. Also, you can use a pastry scraper or something flat and wide to gently lift the cake to help the paper out. Then make one last round around to clean up the edges and voila! Chocolate cake and icing by @damaskcakes
