Imagine sitting in a cozy cafe and sketching the rain dripping on the cobblestone streets and warm stucco houses of Venice, Italy. On your next rainy day, take yourself into this lovely scene. The rain makes all the streets sparkle in light. The ochres of the stuccos contrast with the gray of the streets. There's a lovely warm light under the umbrellas across the street. This is a surprisingly easy little painting to do. Rough press paper is the only supply I wouldn't substitute another for. You need the texture to make that sparkle work!
