@Jeremy Bailey Smoke Test Live Stream from PRAKSIS in Oslo
TMM Anthologies: Issue II | Smoke Test | Jeremy Bailey – Launch event PRAKSIS’s Summer 2017 residency 'The Artist Entrepreneur', developed with Famous New Media artist Jeremy Bailey in collaboration with UKS and The Moving Museum, is pleased to host the launch of 'The Moving Museum Anthologies Issue II: Smoke Test' edited by Jeremy Bailey with a special "smoke test" marketing webinar event on Wednesday 31 May. 'The Artist Entrepreneur' residency questions the growing tendency within many arms of the ‘culture industry’ to require artists to adopt entrepreneurial approaches. This event will present products conceived for social good by artists Claudia Lomoschitz, Post Religion, Kathia Von Roth, and Yinan Song who participated in the world’s first seed accelerator initiative for artists - Lean Artist. Instigated by Jeremy Bailey for A/D/A HAMBURG in late 2016, Lean Artist was an intense 3 day bootcamp featuring hands on mentorship from Bailey, startup leaders and art world heroes designed to empower and teach participating artists how to use the tools of silicon valley to create empathetic startups that subvert an increasingly dominant and transgressive startup culture now threatening actual arts culture for funding in the wake of broad defunding across Europe. One of the first steps for any startup is proving product market fit. Smoke Test will transparently present the iterative design process used to search for fit, including online marketing material, prototypes and user feedback. Speculative products include a marshmallow alternative to firearms, a matchmaking app for creative collaboration and a condom-like private web browser you can share with a friends to practice “safe browsing.” Smoke Test follows Technostalgia as the second in a series of Anthologies launched on The Moving Museum’s new online publishing platform supported by Arts Council England. About PRAKSIS PRAKSIS is an Oslo-based not-for-profit organisation running multidisciplinary residencies that focus on developing creative practices through shared experience and cross-cultural exchange. “PRAKSIS” is Norwegian for practice and also invokes the English word ‘praxis’: the fusion of theory and practice. This represents the organisation’s central ethos: to support creative practitioners, and to foreground the processes of making, thinking, discussion and exchange essential to all successful works of art. PRAKSIS aims to open the artistic process up to a wide audience, and encourage a deeper engagement with and understanding of contemporary art – getting people excited about what artists do, not just what they produce. Community – local, national and international – is key to PRAKSIS’s thinking. They link talented arts professionals from around the world to the Norwegian arts scene and its wider community, to build link and enable public access.
