Jetcast's video: SURPRISE Bust Ups- Yellowfin Tuna

Episode 54: Early start in the dark as I had a long way to travel. It was about 45 km travel on the water to the fishing grounds, plus a notorious coastal bar crossing along the way. Nothing like a bit of danger to start off the day in the pursuit of fish! But good prep meant that this solo trip went off without a hitch. The weather and fish also did their part to make it a good one. There's a bit of trolling, jigging, and topwater casting in this video. Plus a few fish to bring home at the end of the day! Fish today in order of appearance: - Yellowfin Tuna - Pearl Perch - Rock/Tomato Cod - Maori Cod - Skipjack Tuna Specs: - I ride a Yamaha FXHO 2019 Waverunner. - It has an auxiliary fuel tank fitted, and I needed it in this trip as the end result was 78 litres of fuel consumed. - I use a Garmin Echomap 95 UHD. Great bit of kit that makes the job easier - The Waverunner is serviced and expertly equipped with many safety and fishing features (inc the aux fuel tank) by Shoreline Jetskis: www.shorelinejetskis.com - The side pods are called "Tubbies" and also available from Shoreline Jetskis - I prefer to fish with mainly Shimano kit. I have a Talica 10, Stella 14000, Ocea Jigger 1500HG, and a Saragossa 6000. I also have an Ugly Stick rod that has caught so many fish it is bloody unbelievable! The two YF Tuna on this video were on that Ugly Stick rod with the Talica 10. Perfect medium duty boat rig for trolling and bottom fishing, plus unbreakable! -The trolling lure that did the damage is a Samaki Pacemaker shallow diver in Slimy Mackerel colours. First time I used one, and had a fish on within 15 minutes. - Jigging lures : various slow pitch style from Cozen, Nomad, and others. The jury is out on my favourites yet, although Cozen slow pitch jigs have caught some good fish. - Casting lure is a Halco Twisty 40g I have no sponsors-but am interested ! :) If you have any questions or suggestions, please comment below!
