Lebanon PA, May 4, 2023: Tony Alvarado, the Lebanon County Conservation District Mosquito-Born Disease Control Palmyra Borougofficer, updated commissioners on results of the recent tire collection and the summer spray season. 2,655 auto tires were collected, and 67 oversized tires. The County contributed $4000 of $16,000. Many municipalities also set allowances for the collection. For a Catchment Basin Treatment program in Swatara State Park where an Acidic Bog Habitat exists, Tony found West Nile Virus mosquitos. In 2022, there were no human infections. Tony also shared the story about his insect tattoos. He uses them to teach children about insects.
