Joel Hageman's video: Artrage Time Lapse Speedpaint - Sci Fi Sunset

@Artrage Time Lapse Speedpaint - Sci Fi Sunset
This is based on a tutorial video called Speed Painting Demo: Cityscape by Donglu Yu on Artstation. The video shows how the images are built from an existing photo. The photo layout is what gave some order to this painting and kept it from going completely random. Donglu's tutorial here: https://www.artstation.com/a/278562 You can get Artrage 6, the newer and updated version, here: https://shop.artrage.com/order/checkout.php?PRODS=24245816&QTY=1&AFFILIATE=138470&CART=1 Figuring out cities is endlessly nerve-wracking. Complicated landscapes. Figuring out where everything goes in the foreground and background while keeping city logic and getting a readable composition. They're studies in values. One thing I've noticed lately is: keep the shapes simple and hint at the details. Which I'm kind of doing more of here. Otherwise, it becomes a circus of confetti and festive detail. Sober composition is more the idea and let the dramatic points show up where needed. Still convincing myself of that, but yeah. Practic, practice. Painted in Artrage 5.0
