John Gordinier's video: Devil s Tower Night Lapse 2020

Recorded at Devil’s Tower, Wyoming, late July 2020. The park ranger had directed me to a gravel road that led to an open field with Devil’s Tower rising in the distance. I rode my bike 3 miles uphill from the KOA campground to get to that spot. (FYI, when you’re headed up the road to the Devil’s Tower visitor center, the turnoff to the gravel road is on your left. There is a sign referencing some trailhead.) I got there around 6pm. Nobody else ever showed up... had the entire place to myself. I laid out a tarp on the ground and set up a couple tripods with GoPro cameras attached. I fell asleep around midnight lying out in the open under the stars, which was nice... but was startled awake at 2am by something growling at me in the dark. Something very close to me. When I sat up, it turned tail and ran off. But that was all the sleeping I was going to do that night. I was wide awake from that point on.
