Friends of Hurricane Creek started 21 years prior to this event. It was our great privilege to honor the first donors and paid members of the "Friends of Hurricane Creek" Here's his Mr. Jimmy's resume... "Jimmy Watson was born in Dothan, AL in 1922 and moved to Tuscaloosa in 1924 with his parents. He attended Verner Elementary School and graduated from Tuscaloosa High School. He attended the University of Alabama where he studied Commerce and Business Administration. He enlisted in the Marine Corps after Pearl Harbor. In 1943 he married Addalyne Abrams. For a number of years he owned Watson & Son Jewelers with his father in downtown Tuscaloosa. He later invested in retail & other ventures in Tuscaloosa. He was a charter member of the first camp of Gideons in Tuscaloosa. He was a charter member of Druid Civitan Club serving three terms as President over 50 years. For more than 50 years a member in Masonic Order. Served as a member of Tuscaloosa Planning and Zoning Commission for 25 1/2 years (25 yrs & 5 months). He was co-founder and Board member of the Tuscaloosa Opportunity School for Exceptional Children. He served as President of Tuscaloosa Association for Exceptional Children. (TARC now The ARC). Life Deacon at Calvary Baptist Church" His wife Addalyne was by his side all the way, supporting him in everything he has done. She also loved those 5 acres on Hurricane Creek.
