How do you feel when you attend an ethnic festival and you are watching a performance from that specific culture and the White performer is center stage? I believe you can believe inclusive while elevating the featured member of the ethnic group. Each weekend, I attend a ethnic or community festival and it is common practice, particularly in the Asian cultures to be overly inclusive. It sends the wrong message. How often does the ethnic get to share their performance or to take pride in something from their culture? Rare occasion. Please maximize this opportunity and take center stage it is you for your group to share with the others. We talk weekly and want to share raw talk about what is on our minds. We are very involved are respective Black and Asian communities and anti-racist groups.
