Jolene Jang's video: Lantern ceremony commemoration of the victims bombed - Hiroshima to hope

@Lantern ceremony commemoration of the victims bombed - Hiroshima to hope
This weekend, one of the cultural events I attended was this lantern festival. Let's say it was much different than the burning man style lantern festival that I attended in the fall. About 400+ people attended, mostly Caucasians and maybe 30% Japanese Americans, one Black attendee and one Black Buddhist emcee. In the program was a variety of voices, including a Japanese singer and White folk type singer, translating in tandem, Ukrainian Singer, Black woman reverend, Japanese American poet, and long-time news anchor, an advocate Lori Matsukawa. The program was inclusive and shared through music, song, poetry, art, prayer, words and action. Knowing there are 400+ out there who want to acknowledge the impact of the bombings and who want to have more peace is hopeful to me. Taking a moment to enjoy the lanterns flickering on the lake under the moonlight was a nice break. Also knowing that these floats will be corralled and picked up and not adding to garbage on the lake is commendable. From Hiroshima to Hope Candle-lit lanterns will bring messages of peace and hope in this annual event that honors victims of the 1945 atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, and all victims of violence. The mission of From Hiroshima to Hope is to commemorate the victims of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki and all victims of war and violence. We educate for peace, non-violent conflict resolution and nuclear disarmament through a public outdoor event lantern-floating ceremony. http://fromhiroshimatohope.org/ JOLENE JANG'S INFO Patreon to contribute https://www.patreon.com/jolenejang Youtube: subscribe https://www.youtube.com/c/JoleneJang/ Website: https://jolenejang.com/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/jolenejang/ Empowered Asians Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/empoweredasians Asian Allies Facebook Group https://www.facebook.com/groups/asianallies
