OH BOY! So it begins! Some friends and I have won some permits to summit Mt. Whitney in May! I've got a little under a month to prepare myself and you're coming with me on the journey. The road to Whitney starts with a baseline hike up the steep leg of Mt. San Antonio - more lovingly known to SoCal residents as Mt. Baldy! Whitney just happens to be "the tallest mountain in California, as well as the highest summit in the contiguous United States and the Sierra Nevada—with an elevation of 14,505 feet" according to Wikipedia!! And my crazy butt is attempting to summit her as a first backpacking trip EVER! Call me crazy, but I'm up for the challenge! Follow along as I prep for this monster of a mountain!
