JonZ Movies's video: Trip to Le Mans 2015 - Day 1 - The 5 Years Anniversary Ed

Memories of my first trip to Le Mans five years ago. Day 1 during the practice week around June 11th 2015. This is a very personal restoration project on my own. My goal was to learn and restore crappy quality of the footage I capture during my trip to Le Mans in 2015. It was one of the few time I ever filmed with a DSLR and the footage turned out very shaky because of my poor grip and the very long telephoto lens (Tamron 150-600mm) was hard to tame, all due to my inexperience. I also had a boring flat over contrasted color profile that had been printed in my shots. It was a long process of tries and trial to get the restoration into the ballpark of where I wanted it to be, took me months, maybe years! I got a sweet tooth of contrast and saturation and I went very aggressive settings on my first times with colors. It not like photography where you can crank up crazy colors. Video is a different art where that if you go a bit over, it make the footage falling apart once it play. One day I could say my grading was great, and then when I check back the day after, it was terrible and couldn't tell why. It took a long time to get my eyes trained and have my brain to absorb what's wrong and right, and with the help of a couple of display devices, having movie/documentary references, I had to correct every bits I was doing wrong and at the end, I think it paid off, I understand better what I was doing at grading, the how to not go extreme and keep it smooth and natural. Obviously there's still imperfections, the footage were just home videos in the end and nothing pros, artifacts here and there from the tracking stabilization, but I think it fine for what it is. I've depleted so much energy on this. I reached a goal where I am ok with the result.
