Rage is an orchestral piece in the style of a boss battle theme. It starts with an atmospheric, aleatoric section feature the horn soloist improvising long, melodic phrases while the woodwinds improvise short and scattered phrases. Then it goes into a percussion groove and the horns present the A section theme. The B section features a contrasting melody first stated by the oboe. The melody is based on the inverted version of the first three notes of the A section theme. The piece then returns to the A section, and ends dramatically with all stops pulled!
