Ep. , "Master with Cracked Fingers", starring Simon Yuen, Dean Shek and Kwan Yung Moon. Absolutely NOT starring Jackie Chan. My long-planned revisionist "Archive" collection of this series will count this installment as , so it's a milestone of sorts here. The team behind this project intended to cash in on the 'other' superstar, the one not named Bruce (or Caitlyn). So they went Godfrey Ho on us, incorporating footage from "The Cub Tiger from Kwangtung" - a long-believed unfinished early film in young, YOUNG Jackie Chan's career (considered to be his very first starring role) - into a new story of a kid who wanted to become a great fighter, and is naturally forced to deal with all the familiar, violent trappings. "Drunken Master"'s old Yuen is back to help try to fool the audience into believing the Dynamic Duo is back. The newer footage actually stars a virtual nobody who either keeps his face hidden, keeps his back turned or acts in a blindfold (we call this, in Spanish, "sin verguenza"). The English dub, using a crew I have not heard before or since, takes it to an even more absurd level, not wasting any opportunity to remind you that, no, seriously, this is really Jackie Chan you're seeing. The main character's name in the dub is - wait for it - Jackie Chan. Everybody mentions his name at least 100 times, sometimes unnecessarily addressing him by his FULL NAME. I give up. The dub is also interesting in the way some dialogue was written, it seems, solely in order to match lip movements, predating the Day Job Orchestra Star Trek vids by decades.
