Joseph Harwood's video: Where have I been - New Name Makeup and a Brand New Channel

🧜🏼‍♀️ SUBSCRIBE 🙏🏽✨Where have I been? Update vlog + Introduction 😃 Hey everyone! 😃 Doesn’t it feel surreal to be back properly on YouTube after 4 years? I am very nervous and excited because I have only really uploaded random bits that I wanted to host on my website, but never for a real YouTube series! I still find it insane that we’re in 2021... it feels like yesterday when I was doing this full time haha! So first things first, as I said in the video - my means of address has never been , I feel like Joseph was an alias that represents my brand and whilst I was doing YouTube, I used it as an armour. I’ve never been JH, I’ve been Joe, so... 🥺 Please refer to me as Joe or Jojo. If I’m gonna post new work, it’s gonna be the real me. I also wanted to put a brief explanation here, that I didn’t necessarily want to put into the video 😳 people are not given the space that even drag is allowed on Youtube 😥 The whole user interface when the audience logs in, is customised based on what they type or search for, (and say lol.) So it’s not at the forefront of peoples minds to think that trans people, who are not seen enough in every day roles on tv for example, would be the first choice to search for in beauty. Or travel, or lifestyle! The main media segments that trans people are in are documentaries about being trans, talking about being trans in a news section, and VERY little else! So that’s why it’s not allowed the makeup creators who happen to be trans, to be seen, despite the fact that nearly every cisgendered and makeup artist I’ve met has told me that they grew up watching the Complicated Life. 🤔 What people do search for once they’ve seen amazing beauty work on , is how to do makeup like their favourite queen. Or if there is a big agency working with a cisgendered man who’s been interviewing in 100 magazines and tv shows with the tag line, ‘boy in makeup’, all that boy in makeup needs to do is find a video that’s got a lot of traction, and somehow introduce that into their beauty content and they’re pushed to the front. 🧐 I enjoyed searching for something on Youtube and stumbling on someone new, I don’t want a program to introduce me to someone it can pick up that has a specific engagement. And It’s changing at the moment 🙏🏽 But it meant that during the last four years we’ve been invisible. I don’t want to be positioned against another trans person in 2021 😡 Let’s show MAJOR love and keep it moving! ❤️ Finally, I’m ready to share some new content with you and I have so much fun things happening that I can’t wait to see what you think! No filters are used and any edits are declared. 📸Thumbnail Retouching - Blemishes are minimised slightly, any darkness around the centre of the face is brightened to look even. 📸Photography Set - This is shot on a Canon G7X with seven panel-lights toned to neutral.
